Struck by a hay bale while driving a van? Electrocuted while repairing a garbage desposel? Wow you never know. It is a dangerous world, no one gets out alive.
How about the wife of a celebrity? Actor David Niven’s first wife, Primmie, was accidentally killed when she fell down a flight of stairs in actor Tyrone Powers’ home while playing a game of hide and seek during a party. She wasn’t familiar with the home, and it was believed she opened a door thinking it was a closet and it was a flight of stairs leading down to the concrete floor of the basement. She opened the door and fell. She and David Niven had two small children at the time.
It's amazing that John Landis got away scott free on the manslaughter charges when Vic Morrow died. He & his crew broke every safety law imaginable including the fact that those 2 young kids who died should have never been allowed on the set that night. Vic Morrow & those kids should still be alive & Landis should have gone to jail for years.
What especially hurt about losing Brandon Lee was not only that he had a wonderfully promising career ahead of him, but he was also Bruce Lee’s son. Bruce Lee also died young, at age 32. It’s a tragedy to lose one member of the family at a young age, but a double tragedy to lose two.
Something about the randomness of freak accidents has always been terrifying to me. When I was in the 7th grade a classmate of mine opened a closet door at home and a shotgun stored on the closet's top shelf fell and somehow went off and killed him. I wondered then how his parents dealt with it. It made such an impression on me I remember his name sixty years later...Michael Terry, RIP.
Sonny Bono. Skiing accident. Sad. Loved watching the Sonny and Cher show back in the day.
Natasha Richardson's case is one that I remind people of all the time. People think they need to have a concussion and be knocked unconscious for several minutes in order to be at risk for death. Closed head injuries are brutal. I hope anybody hearing her story keeps that in mind and tells their loved ones.
Also: Thomas Edward "T.E." Lawrence - Scholar, archaeologist, diplomat, writer and officer in the British Army who fought in the Middle East, earning the name Lawrence of Arabia. Died in a motorcycle accident after swerving to miss two children on bicycles. He lost control and was thrown over the handlebars, sustaining fatal injuries. He was 45 years old.
Jon-Erik Hexum… his death still breaks my heart. He was such a beautiful, jovial, and vibrant man. Such a tragic loss.
They are all very tragic and sad, however Anton Yelchin hits me the closest. I know he didn't pass from cystic fibrosis but my son has cystic fibrosis and knowing how far Anton did come before his passing gives us huge hope that my son will have a very very functional life and he can achieve anything he puts his mind to. Anton was extremely, extremely, talented in everything he did, but mostly in not letting CF stop him from anything. Thank you for another great video.
Vic Morrow's death was especially nasty and was recorded. When that helicopter crashed he was decapitated and it was caught on one of the cameras filming the scene.
